Looking for a Waterproof Digital Camera. Any recommendations?

submitted on May 17, 2010 by orangearrows in "Products / Gadgets"
I found a few of them but not sure If I want to spend all that money on a camera which I am not going to use all that much. I saw that the canon produced some good regular shots too. I also read the reviews but was wondering if any of you have some personal recommendations or tips on what to look for when buying these.

Canon ~$270

Pentax ~$260

Fuji ~ $129 <<< Inclined towards buying this one since Cheap/ seems reliable and takes decent shots

These all are good cameras. I like Pentax's look and 5x wide angle. You will find it useful when taking close up shots under water.

I recently purchased a Fuji camera and love it. It takes really good pictures and is very durable too. The price can't be beat either.

My friends owns this one and likes it alot http://www.buy.com/prod/polaro.....50039.html It's 99.99 and the pictures look good unless she decides to blow them up to more than 8x10 size.

Not too long ago when I was researching digital cameras I found 1 of interest that was waterproof and it seemed nice. I did not end up buying it so I don't know much more than what I've read.
    http://www.buy.com/prod/olympu.....20178.html $184.95 + $5.95 Shipping making it $190.90

Would a single-use camera serve your needs? There's a Fuji http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004TWM6/ . I'm not sure which specs are correct, the description says waterproof to a depth of 17 feet, it worked for the consumer down to 22 feet, and details from the manufacturer say 35 feet. Without a flash, I'm not sure that's of any value, but the pictures were clear and had good color in more shallow water.

Well initially I did think about it and have used one in the past. The picture quality is not that super and once you go underwater - it gets very blurry and chances of water leakage are more ( I think the user got real lucky with that one - 22 ft is pretty deep). But if nothing am going to go for one of these. Thanks
