Limited quantity deals

submitted on February 15, 2011 by equipurple in "Buxr Website / Contests"
Is there a need for some different way of handling or designating limited quantity or limited quantity per day deals.
There have been a few of note recently, the Ocean Spray sample the most recent.

It is not a free coupon that everyone gets, yet it is not quite a sweepstakes where you have a chance to win. It is different from regular deals in that it may be dead for the day, but then it revives again the next day. It should likely not be penalized (negged) or flagged as dead on a daily basis.

I have not yet thought of an answer, but wanted to raise the question.

I perceive these deals as low value. What else are they if you can't make use of them? You might think they are not sweepstakes, but the company who offers them may have intentionally designed them to work in a similar way offering very limited quantities over a period of time. It's a marketing trick.

Agree - collection of your details with no reward. You end up on the email newsletter but no sample.

My opinion is... deals that are limited that way shouldn't be posted. When I come across a product and it says "only x left" or "limited supply", I don't even post those. Buxr is a 24x7 site...people that don't get to the limited deal in time to get the product might perceive that Buxr as a whole doesn't have pertinent deals.

I don't think just because they are limited they should be skipped completely. It depends on the set up with the Ocean Spray they are clearly telling you on their wall when they are and aren't available. You aren't signing up only to find out you didn't qualify or receive anything, which is better than many freebie offers. All freebies have limited quantities, if we use the limited supply as a guideline we'd have to stop posting freebies completely.

Agree - if you someone who happens to login that time - you should be able to take advantage of those deals. there are many deal sites / forums which do this and are very successful. They depend on the community to flag in case they expire or anything is wrong with them.

Wouldn't it be first come first serve with low value, perhaps best as discussion offering.

Case in point is the set of two Stella Artois Glasses. They were free. I got them only because I clicked on the link while the deal was still pending. The deal was dead before it could even be listed. I received the glasses a couple of weeks ago. Thanks to the person that posted it! I would not have gotten the deal if it had not been for someone posting it. There have been a couple of deals I received that never made it out of the "pending." Chili's $7 for a $15 bar/food tab. Some of us got the deal so that helps. Keep those deals on because there are buxr people that can get them before they expire.

Or create a category "Get them before they are gone!"
