JCPenney or JCPenny? Either one is OK with the company's IT department

submitted on March 14, 2010 by YanBz in "Stores / Merchants"
I was approving a couple of deals just now and noticed that JCPenney maintains two websites/domains that look the same but spell differently (note the missing 'e' in the second domain name):

1. http://jcpenney.com
2. http://jcpenny.com

Both link will open to their own domain name but will look exactly the same. I wonder why the company will not redirect the second domain to the first one to prevent the confusion? By maintaining two domains like this they give this typo credibility it doesn't need

I agree...why not just redirect it to the correctly spelled one. You would think that with the money they spend promoting their brand...that they would want to make sure people knew it was JCPenney.com
