JCPenney Introduces New Logo - Do You Like It?

submitted on February 22, 2011 by HouTex in "Stores / Merchants"

I don't know why JCPenney feels it's necessary to change their logo, but it's the first redesign in the company's 40 year history. Comments on their facebook page indicate that not everyone likes it.
But it's an attempt to update the department store's image.

Target recently modified their logo quietly, and Starbucks is planning to launch a new design in March, coinciding with their 40th anniversary.

1. What do you think of the new logo?
 I love it!
 I hate it!
Doesn't matter, it won't get more people into the store.

I wish that companies would stop spending money on wasted efforts, especially when it comes to logo changing. Guess their marketing team must have missed the day that the teacher spoke about logo recognition and that it goes a long way. The JCP I work at could really use new Heating/AC for the second floor. It's way too hot up there all the time.

They are losing money and are looking for a miracle. This isn't the answer. The problem is that so many JCPenney stores are in enclosed malls that don't have the business anymore. People are shopping more at open air malls. It is much easier to shop in one store and then go to your car and put your purchases in the trunk and then drive to another store. You don't have to haul packages all over the place.

The open malls are nice, but I don't shop at them in the winter here. Too darn cold.

I actually like it! I don't think it'll get me to go to the store any more than a great coupon, but it's not bad.
