It is a very neat idea. I would love to have one of these devices. I guess the assumption is that both computers have to be on the network. What if one of them is behind firewall/proxy? Would it still work?
The company is a new startup in Singapore. Here's their press info: Their product was designed for the mass market (not the techies) and the company expects to sell 200 million flash drives at $99 when they launch iTwin in the first half of 2010.
The little video on their web site at http://itwin.sg/ does imply that sharing across continents is feasible. Notice the "Future" link isn't active? Good thing they have patents pending, the guy over in Germany (http://www.i-twin.de/en/) apparently didn't protect the iTwin name when he developed his Windows app that lets you access your iPhone's db's from your PC without "jailbreaking" it. Wonder if the Singapore device uses his app?
