Is there a way to single out printable coupons only?

submitted on October 20, 2010 by midget in "Buxr Website / Contests"
You know like you can single out freebies, sales, etc.

Is there a tab to single out the cents/dollar off coupons and in-store printables?

Does this exist and I'm missing it or if we don't have the tab to single them out can we have one?

It is possible to add such a feature, however you as submitters will have to indicate with each coupon you submit if it is an in-store (printable) coupon by checking of a box. Do you think the improvement is worth the hassle?

I like it. Sometimes I want to pull up a coupon and have to wade through page after page to find it. Especially when I don't remember exactly what the coupon is for so keyword doesn't help.

I don't know how the rest of the community feels. I think it might be easier to find things

I've thought this feature would be awesome for a long time. Half the time I'm just lazy and don't feel like turning on my printer everytime I see a good coupon so I just wait and then can't find it, unless of course I was smart enough to add it to my wish list, which isn't often. Mr Green

Just a quick question. If it's both an in-store deal and online, can we still click in-store printable? FYI, I think this is great idea!

I thought about this last week too! I went searching and searching so I finally did a search for "printable" and most of them came up, but it would be nice to have them all in one spot.

Alright, I am adding the functionality. It will be deployed in two phases:

First, you will notice an extra attribute that you have to fill in during deal submission and deal editing. It is called "Deal Location" and has values "Online", "In Store" and "Online & In Store". The more accurate way to call it would be "Redemption" but the term sounded too scientific and so I went with "Location" instead.

Please populate the attribute appropriately when you submit/edit deals. The location refers to where you go to redeem your deal, not where you go to get it. In other words, you may be printing the coupon online, but if you have to use it in store then the "Deal Location" will be "In Store".

As we all get comfortable with the change, and also have plenty of deals in the pool with the attribute set, I will add a separate menu item to allow you to browse the coupons based on this new attribute. The main goal is to allow you to browse (filter out) the coupons that can be used in store (printable coupons or those that get mailed).

Also, let me know if "Deal Location" is too confusing, and if so, what you would like the attribute called.

Yan and Members, do you think "Availability" makes more sense than "Deal Location" as the attribute?

We always talk about something being available online or in-store, so its seems more intuitive to me.

Yan, what's the correct choice for "Availability" when it's a free product sample (not a coupon) that will be mailed to you? Online, where you filled out the request form?
The choice is more obvious if it's a coupon, then it would be redeemed in the store.

If the product is mailed to you then "Online". If it comes via coupon (and you have to come to the store) then "In Store". Click on the little question mark (?) link on the fist submission page, I have some tips there. Wink

Alright, I didn't forget about my promise. You can pretty much single out printable and online only coupons, or at least those submitted in the past 15 days (since we started to distinguish them during submission).

To do so just go to any store coupons page and use the drop down list on the right-hand side to show only "Printable" or "Online" coupons. Here is a screenshot to show you how it works:

Yan, I'm not finding what you're talking about. Also, if this is done by store, how would i easily locate a coupon for eggs if we do not set a store for grocery coupons?

I think I have the solution now. I just re-designed the coupons page. It now has several sub-pages and one of them is for browsing all printable coupons. Here is the direct link:

Now that the coupons page becomes more functional, should we add a 'coupons' menu item to the top of the page (next to 'hot deals' and 'contests') for easy access?
