I Need Me Some Learnin' On How To Put Thumbnails Into Deals Please????

submitted on August 2, 2010 by deby32953 in "Buxr Website / Contests"
Tried & tried by myself, unsuccessfully. Hubby's a softwear engineer but only works on rocket ordinance (bombs) & is clueless. Googled but came up w/so much info made me dizzier than usual! Can you believe b4 I went 4 the big $$'s by becoming a teacher, I was a comp. specialist? U know, w/the big floppy disks? How DO u get those little pics to show up on your deals when they don't automatically? Or if the pic is somewhere else? I'm sure other not-so-savvy dealers would like 2 know also. Was told I cannot become Poweruser until I learn how (or I'm 89, which ever comes 1st)!? HELP!!

Right click in the pic you want to copy, choose the option view image info you are going to see the address and type, just copy and paste this link in the space where the link of the picture of your deal goes. and voila you'll have a different picture. Big Grin

That's ALL there is to it? I thought you had to go to Hogwarts for at least a semester or two?

I often resort to a Google image search for alternate pictures. Just click on the image you like you the search results and it will bring you to that page where the image is located.

Then just follow the directions above, or you can even take after shortcut after right clicking on the image and choose "Copy Image Location", which will copy the URL address of that image for you to paste into the submission field. (This saves a bit of time and clicking.)

These directions are for the Firefox browser. I don't believe that Internet Explorer has this option from the right click menu.

Don't really like IE myself. It's unfortunate that I have to deal with it on a daily basis at my job as most of our intranet webapps will only run on IE. Blah. Razz

On Internet Explorer, you can right click, go down to "properties", click and then you'll see the URL for the picture in the info box that pops up.

Here are the instruction for different browsers:

    Firefox

Go to the product page, right click on the product image and select 'Copy Image Location' item. Paste the image location into the 'Image URL' field in the Buxr screen where you pick the image during deal submission.

    Internet Explorer

Go to the product page, right click on the product image and select 'Properties' menu item. Properties dialog will open. Copy the 'Address (URL)' field and paste it to the 'Image URL' field in the Buxr screen where you pick the image during deal submission.

    Safari

Go to the product page, right click on the product image and select 'Copy Image Address'. Paste it to the 'Image URL' field in the Buxr screen where you pick the image during deal submission.

Sometimes the product image will not have a URL (e.g. when it is done via Adobe Flash). In this case search the product image using Google Image search and copy the URL of the bast matching result.

Also remember that if its a coupon or sale post, you can always use the stock image stored on Buxr by clicking the "stock" button next to the image URL entry field during submission. Most of the common stores listed on Buxr have that option ready to go for use.

However, its not appropriate to use the stock images for single item product posts 99% of the time.
We would rather see an actual image of it those cases.

Now I can't wait to try it! I have the old I.E. so thanks for all the help! I thought it would be really difficult & it sounds so easy. It looked like magic when admin. did it for me so many times & I thank you for it but I think I'm now ready to give it a try (and impress my hubby at the same time!)

Thanks, Deb! Was always told I had an "attitude" (especially in school!) Maybe this time it's a good one!

You can post some of the best deals! You get them many times before me Neutral You're a great asset to Buxr when you don't get an attitude. No one is against you, we are all trying to help one another. I respect you and your deals, as does everyone else. When they are rejected, we learn, don't we?

I think I get some early since I must be on several 100 email lists & own c.c. for 100s of stores though no balances (some owe me credit) so they send flyers & postcards & junk which I search through. You still scoop me more times than I can count! I'm doing better since Midget disappeared, she found everything! Miss her. Wonder where she went? I have night & day backwards, which will end when school starts in 1 week, which kicks me out of the deals that post in the a.m. too!
