Apple is expected to dominate the tablet sector, accounting for 61% of the global tablet market this year. It's gonna turn into a fight with Android, which has been extending its reach in the tablet sector even more rapidly than it did in the smartphone sector, with a penetration rate reaching more than 30%.
Also IMHO - the 10" tablets are just too big for practical purposes. I wish they would come out with a 8.5" light tablet ( something similar to a kindle).
Google may have a chance of offering a contender, see http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/44.....-wireless/ "With HP tablet dead, who can challenge Apple? iPad contenders are struggling, but real competition may be on its way"
And Amazon is expected to announce a tablet this fall that could be considered a "gamechanger."
Existing models from other makers are not selling well, but Sony has plans to introduce theirs soon.
Amazon's as-yet unnamed tablet poses a significant threat to Apple because of the Kindle's popularity and the movie and music services the company sells. Analysts also expect Amazon to subsidize the tablet's price, which could also boost sales.
The tablet will likely feature Android's Honeycomb OS system, a 7-inch screen and be priced under $300.
