How to judge whether something goes in "deals" or "discussion"?

submitted on August 4, 2009 by HouTex in "Buxr Website / Contests"
Please clarify for me...
When I have submitted a coupon deal deemed "low value" like $2.99, it was denied and suggested that I put it in discussion area instead. So today I put in the McDonald's free med fries & drink with purchase of Angus burger as discussion topic, just to share info with everyone. After that, someone else put it in coupon deal and it was accepted. It's not really "free", it requires a purchase, and the value of the free stuff is probably around $3. So how to tell the difference?

The McDonalds offer would be considered a "duplicate" if it came in time wise after this discussion thread was started, and should be rejected then. I'll flag it so the mods can check into the time stamps on both.

As for your other concern, sorry, but I can't really comment on that one, as I'm just a member.

The deal came in later by just 2 minutes so I will keep the forum topic

    Hi Beverly,

We rejected a previous deal that you submitted because it was simply a link to a news story. The McDonalds would have qualified to publish, that's why it was approved.

As I've said before, we judge deals on a case by case basis, and it's usually at the discretion of a moderator whether to reject for low value. In general, if you are not sure of the value, you probably should not be submitting in that particular deal in the first place. Again, please check out this blog post for more detail into what we are looking for.

    Hope this helps,
