How to Find Local Outages for Phone, Cable, and Other Sites & Services

submitted on July 12, 2013 by HouTex in "Stores / Merchants"
I just found this site today - http://downdetector.com/ because I searched for information about an AT&T outage in south Texas http://downdetector.com/status.....ms-at-AT&T .

This site is like a "weatherman for the digital world," detecting when technology fails and reporting what is going on to the public. You can also follow them on Twitter https://twitter.com/downdetector or Facebook https://www.facebook.com/DownDetector .

Downdetector collects information from several sources and provides a realtime overview of status information and outages for all kinds of services like internet providers, mobile providers, airlines, public transport and other online services. http://downdetector.com/companies

You can report outages yourself on the site or at the company links provided.

Might have to try this out and see how reliable it is. I have AT&T and sometimes my internet has gone down for a little while w/o explanation yet when I call AT&T about it they always claim there's no outages in my area
