How to Eat Well While Traveling Without Busting Your Budget

The best tip from airlines and frequent travelers alike: bring your own food! But how can one do that when it seems like there are barriers to doing that?

My favorite tip involves bringing an empty water bottle filled with orange slices... On a recent trip to Florida, Frugal Foodie took a tip from Food Network chef Rachel Ray and brought a reusable water bottle empty but for a few orange slices. Once she cleared security, she added free water from the nearest fountain and, voila, instant spa-like treat instead of forking over $3 for a bottle of water.

These are great suggestions, but I wonder if you can really get packets of powder and condiments (especially hand-labeled or unlabeled ones) through airport screening. Decisions made by the screening personnel can be lax or extremely strict, depending on where you are.
