submitted on February 4, 2011 by clover in "Member's Lounge"
Being "Green" means more than just piling cans, bottles and newspapers in to your recycle bins. What else do you in your everyday life to help the environment? Simple things like not letting the water run while you are brushing your teeth, putting a timer on your hot water heater, limiting the time you or your kids are in the shower all helps! many of the following things will help you save money and also create a greener environment for your home.

1. Replace your light-bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs.
2. Purchase energy efficient appliances when it is time to replace.
3. Your hot water heater should be set to 120 degrees and not hotter.
4. Unplug cellphone chargers and other plugs when not in use.

I always thought Styrofoam is recyclable in your regular 'recycling' bin. I can swear I have seen that logo at the bottom

Not in Orange County, Orlando, Florida. Publix Grocery Stores is the only place nearby that will accept clean stryofoam. It makes it tough when you are trying to clean wing sauce out of the container. Orlando is not a very environmentally friendly place but we are getting there!

Yes / No questions should be radio buttons, right?

Yes, questions that require a single answer are radio buttons. The squares indicate that multiple answers are allowed. (Those were probably chosen by accident since the questions that have squares seem to be for single answers, too.)

Where I live our rubbish is taken to a sorting facility. It's nice not to have to separate recyclables.
