Heinz + Kraft Merger Will Create the World's 5th Largest Food Company

submitted on March 26, 2015 by HouTex in "Products / Gadgets"

Between these 2 giant companies, their products are purchased by 98% of North American households. But it's going to be interesting to watch, since both brands make primarily processed foods. Although these were once popular comfort foods, today's shoppers are more interested in eating healthier foods and look for fresh and natural products that are organic with locally produced ingredients.
The new company will have eight brands that each generate more than $1 billion a year in sales, including Philadelphia cream cheese and Heinz’s signature tomato ketchup. Subject to regulatory approval, the deal is expected to close in the second half of 2015.

These are brands that still pack a wallop. Kraft ranks No. 1 or No. 2 in 17 core categories. Heinz, a more global food company, remains the world ketchup kingpin, and its various brands and products rank No. 1 or No. 2 in categories in 50 countries.

Do you think this merger will impact coupons, and if so, how?

I hope they keep the integrity of the Heinz Brand. I realize Kraft is trying to make some changes with their products with less added preservatives and such.
