Have you tried Google Express?

submitted on November 20, 2015 by YanBz in "Stores / Merchants"
Received mail today from Costco. It looks like they teamed up with Google to offer some sort of delivery service. I am thinking this is something like Amazon premium, where you pay monthly subscription fee and get your products delivered to you either free or with a discount.

I have never tried it myself, so these are just my speculations... Anyone has an idea what this is?

The letter includes a unique code for $25 off my first order with Google Express. Is it worth a try?

There's a pretty good comparison of Amazon Fresh vs Google Express vs Instacart posted here - https://gigaom.com/2014/12/13/.....omparison/
Yes, the membership fee pays for the "free shipping."
At the moment, we only have Instacart so we can't really compare them ourselves. I see their little vans running around and picking up items from many different retailers. But if all the services were all available, I can see how someone might use all 3 for different types of products. Google Express partners with Costco and other retailers to deliver anything except fresh or cold food. Google Express prices include any in-store sales, while Instacart charges do not always take the sales into account at all. Instacart uses personal shoppers, has more grocery store partners, and offers a 2-hour delivery window. One interesting thing, you have to be a Costco member to use Express there, but with Instacart you can order from Costco without a membership. Eeek
Without partners, Amazon Fresh does not have as many product choices as the other two services.

I got the email also showing Costco.
I wonder if that's because I'm a member. Looks interesting, worth trying.

You have to sign in to your Google account/email. When viewing the available items, it asks you to join the membership $95 per year or $10 a month, so I can't tell if the code is valid without joining. Not sure if free delivery is required neither.
