has anyone had problems being "unsubscribed" from merchants?

submitted on November 17, 2014 by mdshopper1 in "Member's Lounge"
i noticed today that TWICE i have been unsubscribed from merchants emails. i do know that i used browser friendly email links to submit for the deal link. maybe i should stop doing that, even though my email is not in the link itself? has anyone else noticed these problems recently?
Sad

I have been unsubscribed from many merchants which I didn't do ...on resubscribing with the same email id still not getting emails. I am thinking of making new I'd and start the process again.

mdshopper1, before you post a deal, open a new browser and paste the link you want to use. Then go unsubscribe to see if your email adddress shows up from there. If it does, just choose the store and snip part of the email to show the deal in the additional comments. Sometimes, even if you cannot see your email on the link, it is still there if you would go into "unsubscribe". Does that make any sense?
If you can follow, maybe this will help...

I just tested it on a deal from another site. When you clicked on the deal down on the bottom of the page it had the unsubscribe option. When I clicked on it, it said "are you sure?" I exited and did not submit. So I guess other individuals can unsubscribe you. Not a nice thing to do!

i know clover....that kind of surprised me!
i prefer linking the email when i can as long as it doesnt include my email, but i never really thought about the "unsubscribe" link in that email nor did i think people would click on it. i guess i just have to be a bit more careful when posting the links OR just choose the store instead.

Yup! I guess I never really noticed because I don't post too many store deals. I don't subscribe to all of the stores because I have buxr to see the deals. Cool

That's messed up. I never thought OTHER PEOPLE could unsubscribe you.
    Thanks for the heads up!

I clicked on a deal this morning that had the unsubscribe link on it so I changed the deal link to the homepage which showed the deal.
