Hot or Not?
Has Amazon ruined the "Woot-off"?
If you are like me, you would get up every day or for some wait till 1:00 AM EST for the next woot.com deal or possibly, the WOOT OFF! You never knew what gadget or gadgets would be offered at insanely low prices and then every now and the you would score the granddaddy of them all the B.o.C.
Then in July, 2010, the woot world changed forever as the world's largest internet store, Amazon purchased woot.com for a reported $110 million. For the first few months, even first year or so, there were no big changes. Woot offs were still fun, items were still deals, and you could still score a B.o.C. I scored my final one on March 12, 2012. The B.o.C was what made woot famous and now the big bad monster has taken away everything that was fun about woot.
The deals are not of much value, the items aren't a nerdy/geeky, the woot offs are boring, and the B.o.C is virtually gone (with the exception of playing the occasional impossible game for the right to buy one).
Amazon you have ruined our woot. Please go out to the model that made woot famous and bring back the woot offs we love.
(As I am writing this, I just purchased an R2D2 Speaker Dock from the current woot-off, can't resist geeky Star Wars stuff)
