Happy Thanksgiving! What is Something Small That You Are Thankful For?

submitted on November 22, 2010 by deby32953 in "Member's Lounge"

Some of us are getting ready to travel for the holiday so I wanted to say Happy Turkey Day to all of my family members here on BUXR!

We all have a lot to be thankful for: Family, jobs, good health, enough food to eat, our computers, pets, etc. What I'm curious about are some of the little things that we may take for granted that you may be thankful for such as handicap bathrooms w/raised toilets. (That's a big one of mine.) So please share some of the smaller pleasures of your life (besides stripper poles!)

Awwww! That falls under family! Do'nt you appreciate something small? I agree with you though! My husband and 3 children and 1 grandson & granddaughter on-the-way are what I'm MOST thankful for. I'm asking you to dig a little deeper and to look for some of the smaller things that you don't even think about that you should also be thankful for...like the snooze button on your alarm clock!

I soooooo agree with you there! I didn't have a w or d when I 1st moved back to my home city w/2 young children my divorce. Rented a house but couldn't afford luxury of a W & D yet so I'd wash all of our clothing in a big sink & hang on porch to dry! UGGGGHHH! Was on a 1st yr teacher's salary & my kids were on free lunch! When things got better we'd go to a laundry mat, then my mom found me one at a garage sale for $100 & I still hung clothes for yrs. So I really appreciate mine too!

    Happy Thanksgiving to All!

I am thankful for supermarkets that have pies already baked for less than $5. It's so easy!

I am thankful for coupons because I love saving money... and yes, I am thankful for Buxr and the wonderful community I've found here.

I am thankful for the internet. Before it was around, I actually had to carry a road atlas, call people on the phone, and look things up in an encyclopedia.

It was a hispanic dating website, the funny thing is he wasn't in my height range. I was looking for somebody 5'9- 5'11 and he was 6'2 (I'm only 5'1 so he looked huge compared to me) Mr Green

That's hysterical! Here I was looking for someone tall (I'm 5'8") and I ended up married to someone 5'7"! So funny! Guess it doesn't really matter. Y'all must have trouble holding hands or he gets a big neckache!

Amused I don't have the slightest idea on how to wear heals anymore! I'd probably look ridiculous! My daughter is 5'9" and she wears 6" heals! Don't know how she does it but she's proud of her height & thinks it minimizes her rear. (Which is not big.)

Friday, my life was normal. This past Sunday, it was torn apart. I will be now be alone on Thanksgiving, I'm having to move all of a sudden...my pets are gone, too. I'm an emotional wreck. I say all that to say this: there is ALWAYS something you can be grateful for having or being. I'm thankful that I can be upset, for it means I am alive.

Debs, I wish you all the best on getting your life back together. Just remember to take it one day at a time. And you're right, there is always something to be grateful for. The big things I'm grateful for are family and good health. One of the little things I'm grateful for are pull and seal envelopes (I hate licking envelopes and card season is upon us) Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Debs, so sorry to hear about your troubles. Is there anything I or we could do to help? We are grateful for your friendship.

And tammy, I can't stand the taste of envelopes and also love self-sticking stamps! Remember having to lick those little things! Postage is going up again next month!

I am thankful for a lot of things. There have been things in my life that I thought were truly tragic, a big one specifically, was when I found out I was pregnant with triplets. I was absolutely devastated at the thought of having 3 babies at once... but luckily all 3 of the were born BIG and healthy and are still here today. There are some people that will never have their arms filled with that love of having a child and mine are overflowing.

LOL Wow I get way off topic sometimes. I am thankful for my computer. My hard drive just died on my laptop so after a day with no pc, I hooked my old laptop with a busted screen up to my even older desk top monitor and ta-da! A computer haha!

You have TRIPLETS! OMgosh! Wow! That is a LOT to be thankful for! Your arms are certainly full. How old are they now? I'm thankful for my computer and other days I hate it since I get so tied to it and feel I'm ignoring my 11-yr old.

Yes ma'am. They are 15 months old (2 girls and 1 boy), I also have a 4 yr old daughter. I feel the same way, but its mommy's only lifeline most days and even if I just get 5 minutes to check my email, it some how makes me feel more than "just" mom.

My gosh! I don't know how you even have time to check email! I have enough trouble just w/an 11 yr-old and keeping the house up and I can't do housework and am totally disabled! When I had my 1st 2 kids they were only 14 months apart & soon everyone thought I had twins & it felt like it. Waited 16 yrs. to have my last son! That's how tough it was. And the 1st 2 fought something terrible. Do your kids all get along?

haha! Well they are going through a stage where all they want to do is fight. Over toys, over cups, over whatever they can. My oldest is great with them and helps me out a lot by keeping them occupied. I usually have a kid on my lap or am on the pc at nap times only. I lucked out with the triplets and got 3 fairly easy babies. My first was a nightmare, never slept, always wanted to be held, just really wore me out. Maybe its because there has always been 3 of them and they have had no choice but to learn to take their turn with mom, but they are fairly patient for 1 yr olds.
