Happy Election Day

submitted on November 2, 2010 by JackBauer in "Member's Lounge"
For those of you in the USA, today is election day! Make sure you take the time and head to the polls and have your voice heard! It doesn't matter whether you are a Republican, Democrat or another party support, just exercise the right millions of people around the world wish they had and many have died to protect.

(If you are undecided, Vote Republican ;-D)
1. Did you vote?
2. If you answered No, do you plan to vote?

Wow, people here vote everyday on deals but right now 29% don't vote for the really important stuff. I'm surprised!

I am in IL, a state that never voted Republican. There is no point to vote really especially since I am fine with how things are. Smile

Voting in Houston has been difficult for this election. There are 1.9 million registered voters here. Fortunately our family was able to vote early. After a mysterious fire destroyed all of the county's voting equipment (10,000 pieces) on August 27 ( ), officials here scrambled to borrow equipment and make other arrangements to conduct this election. The result was increased opportunity for early voting, along with paper ballots at precincts with a reduced number of machines. Today the weather was rainy and some polls lost power. Add to that the out-of-state poll watchers who came and became the center of controversy, flying accusations of corruption from all sides, and the result was an increased turnout of angry voters in spite of all the deterrents. We've been getting automated calls day and night for every candidate, and even one recording of Barach Obama! Now it will take longer than usual to count the votes and release the results because they had to use so many paper ballots. Glad it's almost over.
