One would think maple oatmeal is just the rolled oats, maple syrup and salt, right? Wrong. Take the poll and guess the missing ingredient. Here is a tip, Vermont Agency of Agriculture has an issue with the company labeling the product as Maple Oatmeal

I eat McCann's or Silver Palate steel cut oats. I am pretty sure I wouldn't try Mickey D's oatmeal. Nice survey!

Residents in Vermont can request that 100% maple syrup be added to their McDonald's oatmeal. All well for the rest of us.

I do inspection work for a company that markets a food product as local and ships that product over 300 miles, and 3 states away. Guess what? That's considered local. I have repeatedly questioned the marketing only to be told that the term local has a broad spectrum of wiggle room. Companies continue to look for buzz words that appeal to the public and will exploit any of them not nailed down in regulations.

If McD's can use artificial flavors for something cheaper and it's not spelled out in regulations, then I guess we get artificial maple syrup.
