Yan, here's a bit more information that I found:

Take $5 off your first purchase at Groupon just for being a Citi cardmember.

How to Redeem: Sign up at http://www.groupon.com/subscriptions/new for a new account.

When finished, click "My Stuff" then "My Gifts".

Expand the “Have a Gift Card?” box and manually enter the code “grouponcitispecial”.
Note: you have to type it out instead of copying and pasting (that doesn't work).

This offer is valid for first-time customers only.
The offer is available through Citi Specials,
must be redeemed by 09/30/10 at 01:00 PM ET.

Alright, I updated the title to clarify what is going on. The credit worked for me by the way. I opened an account a while ago but never bought anything yet
