submitted on April 14, 2014 by HouTex in "Products / Gadgets"

US residents will be able to buy the $1,500 Internet-connected Google Glass on 4/15/14. The sale will begin at 6am PDT (9am EDT) Google will also include a free sunglass shade or one of its newly-introduced prescription glasses frames along with any purchase. According this link and to a leaked slide obtained by The Verve, this is an expansion of the existing Explorer program, and not a full consumer release. The full release should happen later this year.

I have been offered these many times from Google. I really want one, but $1,500 is way too much to justify.

Yeah, the anti-Glass movement has a website at
Seems San Francisco is pretty adamant about banning them, starting even when there were fewer of them around -

This article makes some very good points about where the use of Glass would be inappropriate -
Using Glass "blurs the lines of privacy and acceptable technology use" and sparks concerns about covert filming and privacy. Will they replace cell phones for taking videos? Could really become a much bigger problem after full release at more affordable prices.
