Google Catches Scamming The Search System

It says they offered 10% discounts to teachers and students. Never saw such a discount pop up online

Nobody likes a cheater. Especially not Google, who just penalized for trying to boost their search rankings using some slippery tactics, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Overstock, a purveyor of myriad discount items, was just recently in the top results for queries like "area rug" or "duvet cover" has dropped to the fifth or sixth page in Google's search listings as a result of the discovery.

    The same thing happened with JCPenney earlier this month. Maybe this is the reason why the change logo (start new life? ) Mr Green

    A very interesting article, by the way (the one I linked above). I recommend anyone with a small business read it (roxytang?). Was an eye opener for me in many aspects.
