Free Trial Size Products at Target & Walmart With Coupons

submitted on July 30, 2010 by deby32953 in "Sales / Promotions"
On a rare trip to Target, I was reminded of an aisle full of trial size products. (Much larger than samples we fill out long forms for.) I had my coupon file & quickly scanned for ones w/o blurb that excluded trial size products. While my husband filled our carts w/groceries, I filled my basket w/17 trial size $0.99 products (great for gym or trips.) The cashier scanned all $1.00 off coupons, no questions asked. I mixed them in w/grocery coupons & wouldn't try it w/just trial size items alone. I tried to make a mental list of all the products (which I'm told by Target change frequently) & then was going to create this great topic matching items w/printable coupons but if you know me at all, I've forgotten a lot, & lost the list I had created so maybe y'all can help. I was also told by another shopper that Walmart has similar aisle but their items are only $0.97? Some of the products were Nexcare Bandages, Satin Care, Carefree Liners, Dove Men + Care, T-Gel Shampoo, L-Oreal Shampoo & Conditioner, Tylenol, Vaseline Intensive Care, Colgate, Crest, Aquafresh t.p., Skintimate Shave Gel, Garnier Fructis Shampoo & Conditioner, Dove Body Wash & Deodorant, Degree & Axe Deodorant, Axe Body Spray, Listerine, Dove Body Bar. If you could add to the list and also resubmit printable coupons to go w/the items, I think it could be a valuable resource for those of us on our way to do a little shopping at Target or Walmart!?

Here is one that was a deal I posted a couple months ago. I can't try the coupon again since I've already gotten my share. So if someone who hasn't used this can try and let us know if it's still active. The coupon is $2.00 off any Biore product and I know that Walmart has samples on occasion of this product, sometimes the towellettes and I've seen sample sizes of the steam activated cleanser.

Great! Keep 'em coming. I noticed in the Redplum coupons there was 1 for Aveeno hair stuff, any size, even trial size & several others. Meant to paste URL here but it's big & y'all know where to find. Probably more on coupons.com Wish I could isolate to put single coupons here but haven't learned how to yet. Still have to learn how to capture thumbnails to put pics into deals, I'm told before I can become a poweruser. Ah-h-h-h, maybe another discussion topic?

Went to Target again and bought all of this for free (and paid a whopping 42 cents in tax). I'm so hearting the freebies right now!:

1 Clean and Clear Morning Burst Facial Scrub (trial size) - $1 off coupon
1 Degree for Women trial size deodorant - $1 off Degree coupon
Another pack of Papermate pens - $0.50 Target.com coupon
2 packs of Bic Ultra Round Stic Pens - Used $1/2 Target Coupon + $1/2 Manufacturer coupon from the paper

Then I went to Rite Aid and got these for free:
2 packs of Pilot EasyTouch Pens - used 2 $1/1 Pilot pen coupons (you have to sign up on their site and they'll send you coupons thru your e-mail)

THEN I went on ahead and bought Veet and Clearasil since there was a BOGO special:
    2 Veet Gel Creams - $6.29
    2 Clearasil - $5.29
Then I used 2 $3/1 Veet coupons from HomeSolutionsNews.com + 2 $2/1 Clearasil coupons (also from same site) and paid $1.58 out of pocket...

Then I submitted a rebate online at RiteAid.com for a free Glam Bag full of goodies. So I got those 4 products + a bonus beauty bag for only $1.58!

It does help to do a little homework at home before you buy Mr Green

Has anyone been running into problems at Target trying to use the coupons w/the trial sizes? My Target refused to honor the Clean & Clear even though it stated "any size" (the register didn't automatically scan the coupon and they said the could not manually do it). They claimed the coupon was only for full size products. Same for a Pantene coupon I had. My mom had the same problem w/the Clean & Clear.

They're wrong. If the coupon doesn't mention that it doesn't work on trial-size products, then it's okay to use on trial-size.

I do this sort of thing all the time and every once in awhile I'll get a new employee or one that doesn't know how to price adjust. I just point out that there are no exclusions on the coupon and tell them that I've done it in the past, and then they'll let me get the product for free and price adjust.

Jillc38 yes. I tried to use a $1 off cat treats coupon (at Target) & the treats were 94 cents. The coupon would not scan of course. But they said they were not allowed to type in 94 cents & hit vendor coupon! They would have been paid $1 + 8 cents from the coupon for a total of 14 cents extra profit! I had to go to Walmart where the treats were 1.07 to use it.

You should call their corporate offices and ask them for a copy of their coupon policy. My Walmart is strange with coupons they take them -- but you can tell that each cashier has there own way of handling coupons and what they will and won't ring through. I had a cashier yesterday who told me she rang one through, I was checking my receipt as I walked out and she hadn't credited that one. I know now not to use her line again.

Below is a link to their online corporate policy you can print and take with you next time. Click around for phone numbers to call if you want to pursue it further.

That's terrible! Did you ask to speak to a manager? I would have. We don't have any problem at all w/our Walmart or Target in FL. There's been so much bad publicity lately accusing stores of not honoring coupons, they take them gladly. Stores make good money on them so I don't understand why some cashiers are giving people trouble. & Sandy, I check my receipt before I leave and I would've gone to the customer service desk & complained & they would've opened her register to look at the coupons. This happened to me at Target a few weeks ago & I went to the customer service desk & they just opened the drawer and gave me cash for the coupon value w/o even checking w/the cashier. Guess they figured I wouldn't make it up since I thought they were going to pull her drawer & they desperatly want to keep your business.
