Free Tilly the killer whale!?

submitted on March 2, 2010 by outcastplo313 in "Member's Lounge"
You probably already heard the story about Tilly the Killer Whale..

Experts say Tilikum is not to blame and is reacting to 25 years of captivity.

What do you think should happen to Tilly?

Okay this is sad, don't get me wrong, and normally they don't attack humans...

However, seriously, did anyone else catch that "killer" part in the species name?

If some dweeb waived steak in front of a tiger for 25 years, nobody would be surprised if the tiger ate the person. Yeah, it really wanted the steak in the first place, but after 25 years it would be a little mad.

Sounds to me like you have seen comedian DJ Hazard do his shtick about Ziegfield and Roy. No?

Nope, that was purely of the top of my head.

I remember the Siegfried and Roy incident, and may I say "case and point", but I've no clue who DJ Hazard is.

Darn it, that should read "off", but it gets canceled out by having spelled "Siegfried" correctly. Big Grin

Did you hear some people were asking the Whale to be put down? FOR WHAT PEOPLE? The whale did not do anything wrong. It was just being a whale.

Think it's time to let the whales go. They are creatures of the big seas. They roam the planet with no boundaries. Imagine being someone who could roam the ocean and then being confined to a small tank .... for our merriment.

    Sad

i agree i think KILLER whales should not have been used for human entertainment in the first place
What happened really wasn't surprising, the whale should be let free.

The only exception I would make to the whole "no captivity" for entertainment rule are species who we are attempting to save from extinction. However, being able to view them to recoup re-population program costs, and then having them do tricks are two different things.

I even avoid seeing or renting films with real live animals as being the headliner, unless a serious amount of proceeds go towards a similar species recovery program.
