This is an incredible offer from Microsoft, they call the site "DreamSpark."

It's all about giving students Microsoft professional-level developer and designer tools at no charge "so they can chase their dreams and create the next big breakthrough in technology - or just get a head start on their career." DreamSpark software is exclusively offered to currently-enrolled students.

Participants must be verified by their school to prove student status in order to download the software.
The selection of software includes Visual Studio 2008, Visual Studio 2005, SQL Server 2008, SQL Server Express, Expression Studio 3, Windows Server 2008R2, Windows Server 2003, xna Game Studio 3.1, CCR and DSS Toolkit 2008R2, Robotics Developer Studio 2008R2, Visual Basic 2008, Visual C# 2008, Visual C++ 2008, Visual Studio 2005, Virtual PC.
