A friend of mine just went to renew Norton 360 and they wanted $70 to renew it.

I laughed maniacally when he told me.

I told him not to get it in the first place, but he would not listen to reason.

However, ultimately free is usually better than nothing.

If you must have Norton, it can usually be purchased annually with a full refund rebate. I did that for years when I still liked the product and it didn't have so many conflicts with other software. It's best to never renew it at all and simply buy a new copy. If you buy it a little early (because of the availability of the refund), no problem. Just wait to install it when the old one expires and you'll still get a full year out of it. Renewing online was not acceptable, as the online renewal price was always way more than the street price.
