First down vote on worst deal now gains an extra point

submitted on April 1, 2009 by YanBz in "Buxr Website / Contests"
Check our blog, the March contest results are out! Congratulations to all the winners!!!

Buried in the results is a small change we are making to the contest rules. Starting this month the first negative vote on a deal that becomes the worst deal of the day will gain the member 2 points. The following negative votes will gain 1 point as usual.

We realize voting down your fellow member's deal takes some balls. Smile We however need your help in weeding out bad deals to help Buxr visitors make an educated purchase decision. This is why we want to reward the members who take the time to verify deals and alert everyone to those that have little value (by voting them down).

As usual with negative votes, vote down only deservedly bad deals. A good example is if exactly the same product is available from another (reputable) merchant for less. Don't vote down based on personal preferences, it is often better to just skip a vote in this case.

I think this is a positive change for negative votes or a good thing for bad deals or something like that.

I'm not sure I like this idea. I think it's going to cause more negative votes...which means more bad deals on the front page, because you have to leave feedback.

I'm curious to see where this new rule goes. I say let it at least stick around for one month.
I have a feeling that in the end it will prove to be a positive addition.
