Firefox 3.5 is out!

submitted 144 days ago by Tarun
Firefox 3.5 has been released! I've been using it since betas and even the final is faster. Especially if you do a clean install.

Fun tweak to enhance speed:
In your address bar enter: about:config
Search for: jit
One will be set to false, ensure both are set to: True
Restart Firefox and enjoy the speed.

Pages are rendering for me in the blink of an eye. JIT is basically the new TraceMonkey that they've been working on.

Download: http://www.getfirefox.com/

You can also get it from my Anti-Malware Toolkit.

Here's how to find jit in about:config

Just double click the False value and change it to True as seen in the screenshot above.

It takes a long time to load up. Anyone faced that issue?

Firefox usually takes a moment to load on first run from OS start.

Was this a clean install or did you upgrade from within Firefox 3.0?

    Upgrade from Firefox 3.0

and I also did the "jit" thing you mentioned above. It is fast once it comes up. But the load up time is easily about 90 seconds or more

Enabling jit does not add any additional start up time to Firefox.

I would recommend doing a clean install due to the amount of changes since Firefox 3.0. I plan to write up a small guide about backing up certain items.
