Find New Food Creations at Eastern States Exposition Through Oct. 4

Everybody loves food, and at state fairs and expositions, everyone finds new foods to love. So attendees throw their diet out the window for the once-a-year, 17-day feast of Fair favorites and intriguing new foods. No one will walk away hungry from the 2009 "Big E," going on right now in West Springfield MA and ending October 4.

A long list of traditional Fair favorites of The Big E will be sharing the menu with some savory new items. The new Craz-E Burger, a bacon cheeseburger on a butter-grilled honey-dipped donut is the hit of the Fair this year! For $5 dollars you get a "bun" of glazed donut cut in half then grilled, and a quarter-pound hamburger with American Cheese topped with bacon inside.
Most fairs have annual pre-fair contests to choose new food items to be featured. That's how we now have such delicacies as fried butter, fried peaches and cream, fried pickles, fried oreos, fried twinkies, and fried ice cream.

I'm not sure the "Walk-Away Nachos" are such a good idea. They take a bag of Doritos, open it up and pour in beans, sour cream and guacamole, and expect you to walk away eating them.
