Fast Food + Alcohol? - at Select Burger King and Sonic Locations

submitted on February 4, 2012 by HouTex in "Stores / Merchants"
I guess I missed this news the first time around, I didn't realize fast food restaurants were testing the sale of alcoholic beverages. Eeek

Burger King's upscale Whopper Bar customers in South Beach, FL can "have it their way" when they order beer with their burgers.

Sonic sells alcohol to Florida adults dining on the patio (not in cars) in Miami, and will only sell beer and wine inside their their Fort Lauderdale location.

In a bid to boost business, two Sonic restaurants in South Florida sell beer and wine. The move follows Burger King "Whopper Bars" recently opened in Miami, Las Vegas and Kansas City that sell beer.

In a tough economy, the move towards alcohol is a way to compete with casual dining — and can help boost slow evening business.

I heard some Walgreens stores now sell alcohol. It is a big money maker for them, and in bad economy all the companies are eager to improve the bottom line.
