Even the Lifeforms of Saturn Enjoy Video Games

submitted on March 30, 2010 by pablos17 in "Member's Lounge"
Anyone for a little PacMan?

This figure illustrates the unexpected and bizarre pattern of daytime temperatures found on Saturn's small inner moon Mimas (246 miles, or 396 kilometers, in diameter) that resembles the Pac-Man character. The data were obtained by the composite infrared spectrometer (CIRS) on NASA's Cassini spacecraft during the spacecraft's closest-ever look at Mimas on Feb. 13, 2010. The first video is missing the appropriate sound effects: "pew...pew...pew."
