Equal preference to every one in moderating the deals (carrying on from Chinnam's post)

submitted on June 3, 2009 by llocomotive in "Buxr Website / Contests"
Continuing on a similar note earlier

I posted a deal on BUXR today ( SwissGear Computer Backpack (Black) (Amazon) for $39.97

My deal ( as of now) is in the MOD Q, and I understand that "overaged" is a moderator of that Q. Would overagedbe responsible for moderating this deal?

If yes ...how come overaged did not moderate my deal and posted one of their own ( much later with my deal still in the Q)
OnlineShoes.com: $20 off a $75 Purchase
http://www.buxr.com/deal/onlin.....hase_24993

Just curios ...since am not aware of what everyone's ( moderators) role is

There are users that are "Auto-moderated" as far as deals making it past the queue before anyone else does. We still validate them according to submission time.

Just want to add my 2 cents onto llocomotive's question..
Deals submitted during or around midnight are left unmoderated until the morning and when they appear on the main page, the time shown on them is 6-7 hours old. Hence, it looses those 6-7 hours of voting time. If it is true that the voting time does not start until the deal is moderated, the time shown on the deal should be reset to 0 when it appears on the main page and not 6-7 hours old which would give it equal preference with other deals. In other words, the voting time should start when the deal has been moderated. Hope it makes sense. Smile

There is a good idea here to consider regarding deal timers.

Some may think it is unfair but remember, you are not supposed to look at the deal time-stamp when voting. So to some extend I like this "unfairness". There has to be a reason for you to become a power user, right? Wink

I partially pushed for that idea didn't I, and I had just forgotten...

As I recall the ideal was that the time stamp should not matter, and that people should just be voting anyway, regardless of the time frame on the deal. I like it, keep it as it is, as it never hurts to have ideals you are trying to ascribe to. Smile

That and it does give good incentive to work towards power user status.

"overaged" is a moderator of that Q

overaged is not a moderator. He is a Power User and can moderate all your deals (with certain exceptions), but he will only do it if you ask politely Wink

why does my name keep getting brought up in this?

I moderate quite a few deals. But a lot of you post many, many deals and it seems you expect the power users and the mods to "jump" every time you post a deal.

I am not required to moderate any ones deals at any point or time. However I do it from time to time just because it's a nice thing to do.

My own deals aren't put into Q because I am a power user. The only time my deals go into Q is if it's a re-submit from a previous deal.

I'm not the only power user here so I'm not sure why why name keeps getting brought up on this subject.

I know the feeling of one's name being dropped inexplicably. You have my sympathy.

I with you in that if a Power User opts to activate a deal, its out of the kindness of their hearts.

Sorry @overaged. Did not mean to drag you into the discussion. I was not aware how things work around here. I thought you were a moderator and were supposed to be moderating my deal.

Now I understand how power users work ....sorry for the misunderstanding

If you post deals with great accuracy and no issues you will soon become power user and your deal will not go into the queue.I hope you will be there soon ...
