Editing Other People's Deals

submitted on January 21, 2014 by roxytang in "Buxr Website / Contests"
I was just curious how everyone felt about having someone else edit your deal.

I try to help out when I can with deals that are in the pending queue. I have seen a bunch of grammatical errors or I think I have a way to word it a little more properly (I am a stickler for grammar). A few times, I have seen almost no information in the description area, other than a repeat of the deal title.

I know I can get a little sensitive when someone corrects my submissions, so I just wanted some input from some of the other members.

I sometimes do update others deal like adding coupon or more info.....
Can't say how they take it, but it's only to make it better...
Many times I just add a comment so that admin or that member can update.

As per me, I will always welcome others to add info or coupons or any other details to my deals... Big Grin

I have no issue with a deal being edited. I can even write, I am one who sometimes just repeats the deal in the description Wink because I cannot find anymore information - even when a deal is emailed to me! THANKS for all of the help.

Yup, I've had a similar habit in the past of editing a deal of a fellow buxr member here or there and never had any complaints. I think there's no harm, especially if you're only trying to help. Artistic

It amazes me that when you correct a tag or seasonal tag on someones deal that they have to go change something so that your buxr name is not listed on their deal. Just saying! Confused

i dont touch or edit anyones deal.....have never really thought about doing that. i have used the "problem" feature so that the admins take care of whatever the problem is. i have added to or clarified a deal by putting a comment on their original deal.

Appreciate the comment but I am referring to Power users who can do the edits. Love your enthusiasm and your deals.

mdshopper, you can look at the history of the edits by clicking on the icon that looks like a word document next to the deal title.

I have not noticed, but does it matter whose name shows up aside from the original submitter? Why would anyone bother to do that anyway? How would it benefit "the editor"?

People activate deals and sometimes they aren't correct. We (power users) try to help out the community so that their deals don't sit in the queue too long. I make mistakes but have activated many deals without mistakes. There needs to be less criticism from admin. Just saying Cool

Most people are very careful to review the deals before activating them error-free, and their help is much appreciated. They also often put in additional codes or information that adds value to the deal. We are a community working as a team for the good of everyone, to present the deals in the most accurate and best way possible.

Just FYI for the submitters, the 24-hour voting period starts when the deal is released from the queue. So any delay in queue does not penalize you in the daily contest. Deals in queue get immediate attention, but if they're released with problems or errors, they can go unnoticed for some time. Hopefully anyone who makes a few honest mistakes can learn from a little constructive criticism, to avoid making them in the future. Wink

Sometimes your constructive criticism is intimidating. How about a calmer side? Wink

Agreed! When you stop repeating the same mistakes, then the need for constructive criticism will go away.

I saw admins too making mistakes like activating deals without checking dupes and also rejecting as dupe.

We all human and these things happen by any one. Smile
