Did Anyone Try Apple Pay? (Take a Poll)

submitted on October 20, 2014 by HouTex in "Products / Gadgets"

Today the new mobile payment Apple Pay went live, so owners of iPhone 6 and 6 Plus can use it to pay for purchases at 220,000 stores. With the new iOS 8.1, iPhone owners have the ability to add credit and debit cards issued by participating banks to their Passbook digital wallet and make secure payments using TouchID. It's supposed to be more secure than using your cards directly.
Instead of using your actual credit and debit card numbers when you add your card to Passbook, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted, and securely stored in the Secure Element, a dedicated chip in iPhone. These numbers are never stored on Apple servers. And when you make a purchase, the Device Account Number, along with a transaction-specific dynamic security code, is used to process your payment. So your actual credit or debit card numbers are never shared by Apple with merchants or transmitted with payment.

If your iPhone is ever lost or stolen, you can use Find My iPhone to quickly put your device in Lost Mode to suspend Apple Pay, or you can wipe your iPhone clean completely.
