Dedicated page for ongoing / periodic offers

submitted on June 23, 2009 by YanBz in "Buxr Website / Contests"
An interesting discussion has started in the comments to this deal:

onkarkulkarni offered to create a separate page for ongoing offers like printable coupon for Hobby Lobby or Seattle's Best coffee.

we could have a section on this site for ongoing deals where we could post the most common deals/coupons released every week and which really cannot be classified as a 'DEAL'. Just a thought..

I pretty much offered my opinion which I will copy here:

In theory this sounds great but in practice, how many different parts of the website do you have time to go to every day? I think it is much more convenient to keep deals in one stream like they are now. You can then filter them further down (by type or store) if you want to make the view less cluttered

What do you think? Do we need another page? Also, should the deals from that page be included in the contests, and if they are not, are we in danger of missing on those deals?

I think it's a great idea! Personally i get tired of seeing the same coupons over and over again.

I think those could be submitted on a different page and not counted for the contest.

For those that are visiting and are not aware that there is a separate section for ongoing deals you could put a note or banner or something on the front page and/or home page that has a link to the ongoing deals section that way no one misses out on anything.

The coupons that seem to be continuous are: Michaels, Yankee Candle, Borders,, Hobby Lobby, Joann.

I'm sure there are more that I missed but this list is a start.

I've always been in support of this idea, as its not the first time its been suggested.

It would also keep the community searching for better and more unique offers, and not just the same old offers every week. I think it could help to further make Buxr a distinctive site in a positive way.

I would keep it in the same page but probably mark it as an ongoing deal

Creating another page/link and those deals probably might get buried (like YAN mentioned ..too many pages to click)

The history on the current deal (pages) do tell us about the ongoing offer. So people can vote according to the history if they like. It might be a dead/boring/ongoing deal for people who are regular but for someone who is new or is searching on random on the internet and Hits up BUXR, this might be a good find. I forwarded a free - coffee link to a friend of mine and she was like " WOW" such a cool offer. It might be ongoing for us, but might be a super deal for someone else.

I agree with overaged with the fact that these ongoing deals should not be eligible towards the daily contest. This would help filter them off and give other unique and once in a while deals a chance to climb the top of the ladder.
