Share your Cyber Monday shopping experience (Poll)

submitted on December 11, 2013 by djhciskoski in "Member's Lounge"
I did more Cyber Monday shopping this year than ever before. Is shipping always this slow or are others finding the packages trickling in slower than usual?
1. Are your packages coming in slower than usual this year?
I ordered so many it's hard to keep track!
 Just like last year.
 Slower than usual.

I was shopping in store on Monday, so I don't know. I made a few orders later in the week which didn't come yet. I don't know if they are coming late. I hope not, there are some Christmas Gifts there.

We had a couple of packages arrive a day earlier than the estimated delivery. Eeek We were surprised because of all the bad weather delays mentioned in the news.

BTW, it has been our previous experience on may occasions that UPS held packages extra days in the destination city to deliver them on the estimated day when we paid for only ground delivery service. When shipping within the same state, the cheaper ground shipping will arrive in only one day, but UPS has always tried to sell us 2-day or overnight service at an additional cost anyway.

CareerBuilder does a survey every year, and this year over half of the people expected to shop online at work - http://www.careerbuilder.com/s.....F31%2F2013

Probably why some businesses block that kind of activity...

Some customers may get free overnight shipping upgrade for their orders as weather-related problems delay Motorola Moto X and Moto G shipments - http://phandroid.com/2013/12/1.....-shipping/

Fedex and UPS both reported delays as inclement weather covered 63% of the U.S., and more cold and ice are expected just in time for the holidays.

Amazon and UPS may offer refunds for shipments that were delayed Smile , while Fedex offers an apology. Evil
    See http://www.washingtonpost.com/.....story.html
Customers who failed to get their deliveries by Christmas Day will get $20 gift cards and refunds on shipping charges, Amazon said. UPS also offered refunds on shipping costs. FedEx did not promise refunds but said it would work with people affected.

I actually got an email from Kohl's two days before Christmas saying my package was ready to ship but my Brother and Sister-in-law received the package three days earlier. Cool

According to this news report, Groupon also had delivery problems and will offer $25 gift cards to customers whose shipments were delayed (no compensation from Walmart) - http://www.theverge.com/2013/1.....edex-kohls
Walmart and UPS also tell the Journal that the delays have only impacted a small percentage of customers, though none detailed exactly how many. Groupon reportedly says that it delivered the "overwhelming majority" of orders, but is offering a $25 gift card to customers whose deliveries haven't arrived. Forrester Research tells the Journal that delaying packages guaranteed to arrive by Christmas isn't uncommon — usually occurring with around 15 percent of orders. Even if that number didn't rise this year, it may simply impact more people as the volume of online orders rises.
