Monthly Contest Prizes have been reduced

submitted on May 4, 2014 by onkarkulkarni in "Buxr Website / Contests"
Hmm...just noticed that the contest prize money for monthly contest has been reduced for all levels starting at $70 for the first prize.

No announcement was made though so was a little surprised... Yan, any reason for this and is this a sign of things to come? Eeek Neutral

Yes, they have been reduced. We used to vary them every month but lately they were steady as the same amount, so I understand how this change may come as a surprise.

I hope it is a temporary change. It is due to the fact that Buxr hasn't been doing great lately. It is in red for the past several months and I am financing it using past revenue. We have some reserves, so there is no imminent danger.

That said, everything is possible, including more reductions in prizes. For now however the plan is to stay at the current level for the next few months.

With the prize reduction amount, do you still have to redeem $25 or more for Amazon gift cards?

You can have $25 in Paypal payments or Amazon gift cards. This part didn't change

Yes yan, please let us know how we can help you apart from posting deals of course. The members in our community have only increased in the past few months and there has also been an increase in volume of deal posting so I wonder how the revenues can go down..anyways, we are always here to do whatever we can to pull it up!

I am not speaking for Yan here, but a few things that I do:

      1) Shop from the site. I did it multiple times last week. Click on the Buxr link and order products.

      2) Use the "Share this Deal" link located in every single deal and let others you know about these great deals.

      3) Get your friends, co-workers, social network to join the community. Buxr is a great site to find quality deals and make more friends you will never meed in person, like half your Farmville friends Wink The refer a friend contest is active, just refer 5 qualifying friends to the site to win.

Thanks, JB. Those all are very useful tips and will sure help. You guys all share terrific deals. The problem is that very few people know about them. Now, I am not a marketer, I am a programmer. So this could be the root cause of the problem. Sad

Let me finish on a good note. Being a programmer (to help Buxr) I do what programmers do best. I spend about an hour a day (during my commute) coding Buxr Android app. I hope to have the first version sometime later this year. Hopefully it will not only make it easy to use Buxr on smartphones but also will bring some new shoppers to the site. Smile

Purchase is required after the click. Buxr doesn't make any money off of freebies or in-store coupons.

What if I post the deal from an email I get and then link through from buxr? Does that give you credit?

So with two plusses on the fact that buxr makes no money on coupon or freebies would buxr want to discontinue this type of deal? I appreciate the coupons and use them often. Confused

Freebies and coupon deals are very popular and often bring visitors to the site for the first time. Then they may go on to join, post deals themselves, and click through to make purchases online. Buxr should have a good variety of deals that everyone wants, and lots of them. What we really need is more traffic to the site, and that's where you, the members, can help. Keep posting those great deals and share them with your friends! Big Grin Let's find the BEST deals we can!

I like the store coupons posted because they are direct links and easier to find.

In store coupons do save on shipping too! I tell everyone I know about this site, after all, I have made some money. I have gotten one to join and others to look through. I "share deals" with people when I think they would be interested. Unfortunately, and I don't know how you get around this, it takes some patience to learn how to post a deal - and time. Some people just don't have either. Also, other sites offer money back to shop through their sites. while we win money posting, we don't get money to shop. If it could somehow be combined, I think you would get more shopping directly from the site.

i really like this site and enjoy posting, but it is tough to break into the top 15....and get the deal votes that long time members get daily to win the prizes, even when you post a similar or identical deal at a different point in time. the money portion isnt the same as what i can get on rebate sites.

i love finding great deals and bargains here, but i am also a member of the rebate sites, so if i can get some money back via those sites it only makes sense to use them to get some money back for my purchase. in 10 years using one of the rebate sites and having referral rebates, i have earned close to 14 thousand dollars back in those ten years just from ONE rebate site alone.

i dont mind at all getting a deal and purchasing via a link here if they are not on one of the 4 sites i use. i purchase almost everything i can online. hope yan can develop that app soon also! i would definitely buy it if there was a small fee.

just sharing some of my views and feelings. Smile
