Cinco De Mayo Celebrations Across The States

submitted on April 28, 2010 by midget in "Member's Lounge"

Here is a small compilation of events I could find for Cinco De Mayo in various cities/States.

If you find some you want to add please add them...

The holiday of Cinco De Mayo, The 5th Of May, commemorates the victory of the Mexican militia over the French army at The Battle Of Puebla in 1862. It is primarily a regional holiday celebrated in the Mexican state capital city of Puebla and throughout the state of Puebla, with some limited recognition in other parts of Mexico, and especially in U.S. cities with a significant Mexican population. It is not, as many people think, Mexico's Independence Day, which is actually September 16.

I celebrated my Cinco De Mayo yesterday with 3 margaritas... which was lucky because my son woke up this morning with a fever so we had to cancel the rest of our weekend plans. Hope everyone had a festive day!

Cinco de Mayo is a wonderful example of how people in this country can embrace others from many cultures and celebrate our differences! (And the food and drink is good, too! Mr Green ) Enjoy!
