Chinese sellers and what is wrong with them

submitted on May 28, 2012 by YanBz in "Stores / Merchants"
We get plenty of submissions for products & coupons from small unknown Chinese sellers. These are usually posted by brand new members (registered overnight) and are rejected as spam therefore. Occasionally however a Buxr regular posts a deal like that.

Today I stumbled upon a very good answer to the question "is this Chinese store [blank] scam?" and I thought I would share it with you guys. It pretty much highlights all the concerns anyone considering shopping at these stores would have.

Here is the full question/answer:

Here are the main take-away points:
1. Given the state of the copyright law in China, these products are very likely knock-offs, not the original brands advertised in the online store.
2. Western Union, Moneygram and Paypal allow seller to receive payments anonymously, just what a business needs that doesn't want to concern themselves about reputation.
3. UPS, TNT and DHL icons are there only to take up space, most Chinese sellers only ship with EMS, the Chinese post office. Good luck getting tracking info from them.

Excellent information to those that have any concern over deals prior to submission. Just remember, when in doubt ask; we can usually find a good answer for you. If it looks fake, it probably is, but don't be afraid to ask questions. We are here to help Smile

I signed up for this freebie deal:
and it came from China in a very small padded envelope with a tiny pack of yellow beads, interesting this was received within two weeks of ordering with a thank you card!

I probably am a gadget freak, given the number of random electronic devices I have accumulated. Over the last few years, several have been shipped from China. I have mostly been pretty happy with them - and all but 1 (out of 20?) arrived in 10-30 days after ordering.
This is one activity I perform almost exclusively on eBay, to avail of Paypal's purchase protection: I do not quite have enough trust yet, to make a 'direct' purchase.
