Check Your Receipts before Leaving the Stores

submitted on December 24, 2013 by CouponNut in "Member's Lounge"
Attention all holiday shoppers, if you don't already, be sure to check your receipt before leaving the store. Especially this time of year, drastic price reductions are advertised throughout the stores.

I just got back from a mere shopping spree at three stores, and low and behold was overcharged at every store! When I shop I buy more than 20 items and try very carefully to watch the scanned prices, but today had a distraction of another customer chatting about the holidays. Unfortunately, I guess you could say the total amount due sounded right, but after checking my receipt, it was discovered I got overcharged for three items, plus the scanned price did not match the in store sign price. I took the receipt right back into the stores and explained, and the clerks was very accommodating and not only did I get the price refund or adjustment, but when buying more than one item, I actually get the overpriced item for free.

Hopefully you check receipts upon exiting the store. Anyone else have a price discrepancy store to share?

FYI - I was a recent victim of credit card fraud when someone stole two of my credit card numbers from a Redbox at Walgreens. Those two cards were remanufactured and used in NYC & Atlanta in restaurants and even taxi cabs over $1,000.

Maybe I won't use Redbox anymore. Thanks for the heads up.

Yup... I've been watching like a hawk at checkout. Definitely have noticed that it needs to be watched to get some low advertised prices. Kohls was very accommodating though. Smile

I catch errors all the time on my receipts, especially at grocery stores. It makes me wonder about the number of people who never review their receipt. I bet stores make millions in overcharges. It depends on the store, but, at times, I'm made to feel petty or silly for asking for a refund. I don't care, if it's even a quarter. It's my quarter! Smile

I try to catch the errors during checkout before I pay. Getting a refund later is a hassle.

The scammers and scanners are doing it again! I just had another credit card fraud alert, except this credit card was at home in a drawer. Happened the day I tried to sign into my account, the screen was familiar but it was a fake overlay from spyware.

Our new Dell was hacked and finally got the pop-ups removed with a special antivirus software.
