Build-A-Bear Workshop Voluntarily Recalls Colorful Hearts Teddy Bear for Choking Hazard

St. Louis, MO-based Build-A-Bear Workshop has voluntarily recalled nearly 300,000 Colorful Hearts Teddy Bears, although no incidents or injuries have yet been reported. This includes 284,000 sold in the U.S. and 13,200 sold in Canada. Discovered in ongoing quality and safety checks, the black plastic eyes can loosen and fall out, posing a choking hazard to children.

The 16-inch high, heart-patterned bears were manufactured in China and sold for $18 from Build-A-Bear stores and website between April and December of 2011. See the complete Consumer Product Safety Commission press release at
Remedy: Consumers should immediately take the recalled teddy bear from children and return it to any Build-A-Bear store to receive a coupon for any available stuffed animal from Build-A-Bear.
