Borders Group Will Close 200 Mall Stores Across the US Permalink

Borders Group Inc. will be closing 200 mall stores across the country by the end of January 2010. About 130 of the mall locations, branded as Waldenbooks and Borders Express stores, would still remain open, according to an announcement on the Borders Web site.

The company provided a store closing list at http://media.bordersstores.com.....nglist.pdf . None of the freestanding superstore locations will be affected, according to the announcement.

YMMV but in some cities the inventory of the whole store is marked 50-70% off.

    One happens to be near me, so I'll be circling the carcass of that store when the time comes.

      Nah, best you can get is a decent broth.

      Alphabet Soup comes from poorly conceived New Deal Era government initiatives and agencies.

      Well, depending on the section there are quite a few dishes to choose from.

      1. Meat-stery
      2. Egg Foo Young Adult
      3. Sci-Fry

      One thing to remember though is the cooking temperature. I recommend Fahrenheit 451.

    I'm surprised the one near me isn't going under. They built a huge Barnes and noble last year(it took over 4 stores with and has it's own mall entrance). It's only a few stores down from the borders.
