Big Lots Introduces Credit Card

submitted 192 days ago by CouponNut in "Stores / Merchants"
Big Lots is going BIG and introducing its new in store credit card. Big Lots will offer promotional financing on large items with 12 months same as cash on purchases over $500. Interest will be charged to your account at a variable purchase rate of 29.99% from the purchase date if the purchase balance is not paid in full within the 12 month promotional period or if you pay late. Sounds good, but only if you can manage to pay the balance in full within the 12 month period. High price interest rate if you can't quite get it paid within the promotional period. Must apply in store.

>>>>>>>

Big Lots Credit Card Accounts are offered by Comenity Capital Bank which determines qualifications for credit and promotion eligibility. At no time will the minimum payment due be less than $30.00. Minimum Interest Charge is $2.00 per credit plan. Standard variable purchase APR of 29.99%, based on Prime Rate.

That would be good for future furniture purchases.

APR of 29.99% is a bit steep, don't you think?

Hopefully whatever you buy with 12 month free financing you will have paid off within the time period to save interest. Paying $500 off over 12 months really isn't bad at all.

Must be easy to get, otherwise it doesn't make any sense to me. These 10 credit cards give a period of $0 APR (12-18 months) and then variable 11%-23%. Some even give cash back, but require good credit to sign up. http://www.creditcards.com/0-apr-credit-cards.php

I did not realize that Big Lots sold any items that cost over $500, maybe they mean a $500 total purchase of several items.

Yes, Comenity specializes in issuing credit cards for small businesses, and people with bad credit can even get them because they work (as with Big Lots) as a deferred interest payment option at the cobranded store. See the entire list here - http://www.doctorofcredit.com/.....edit_Cards

Many stores that have these cards will offer them in the shopping cart when you make a purchase - see http://www.doctorofcredit.com/.....hard-pull/

One important thing I learned from that post about signing up for store cards is the possible effect on your credit score. While using the "shopping cart trick" doesn’t result in a "hard pull," it will still affect your credit because these cards become a part of your credit report (which decreases your average age of accounts).

Worth getting the card if you shop Big Lots regularly.
