Are You Addicted to Your Cell Phone? Do You Even Have a Landline? (Poll)

submitted on July 9, 2014 by HouTex in "Products / Gadgets"
When I saw this article I thought it was a joke -

But I also read that Americans are getting rid of their landlines in favor of cell phones only. In fact, 41% of U.S. households are wireless-only, and the percentage among young adults is even higher.
Here's a breakdown by age:
66% of those between ages 25-29 are using cellphones exclusively
60% of those aged 30 to 34
53% of those aged 18 to 24
48% of those aged 35 to 44
31% of those aged 45 to 64
14% over 65
Another interesting fact is that 63% of U.S. adults use their phones to go online, according to the Pew Research Center, and cellphone carriers now generate more revenue from data fees than from voice calls.

A great feature for cell phone users that is lacking with landline phones is the ability to get instant emergency weather alerts.

Take the poll and tell us what you think.
1. Do you have a land line or cell phone?
 Land line
 Cell phone
2. Do you use your cell phone...
 Rarely, use it for emergencies
 A normal amount
 I need it 24/7
3. Do you have any of these cellphone-related problems? Check all that apply.
 Text claw
 Cell phone elbow
 iPosture or back pain
 Text neck
 Blurred vision
 Dry eyes
 Phantom Pocket Vibration Syndrome

i tried giving up our landline for about a year, but when it came time to have to send or receive faxes it became an issue. i have to go and look up the word nomophobia... Big Grin

Our area just got another area code overlay (our 4th), because we are running out of phone numbers. Eeek
We also have 2 land lines and a mixture of cell phones like yours.

The term nomophobia is from the first link - short for “no-mobile-phone phobia,” the fear of being without your cell. Amused
