Are all E-mail providers the same?

submitted on July 29, 2010 by sandyshore in "Member's Lounge"
Really are all e-mail providers the same? I'm starting to notice a trend with promos from merchants -- I used to think I was receiving all their promos, or at least what was made pretty much public promos to customers. Now the past month it seems to me I'm not - especially after seeing something here on Buxr that never made it to my inbox from merchants where I'm a regular/faithful customer. So is this my e-mail provider? Or are you guys finding hidden gems?

Are you happy with your email provider? Do you get all your mail? Oh, and how do you know if you aren't getting all your email?

I think you meant to ask "are all email providers the same".

I can tell you they are not the same based on my experience with the Buxr newsletter which we email to all our members. Some email providers (like Gmail) accept it just fine while others (like Verizon) sometimes reject it as spam. If you do not receive an email distribution you signed up to, check your spam folder and un-spam all legitimate emails, or better yet add the addressee to your address book.

Yes, I meant email providers Red Face

I check my spam regularly and I do add emails from places I've requested to receive their promos. I'm still finding that I'm missing certain things I think I should receive.

I've also noticed that by the time you receive an email with a promo code, it's already been posted all over internet...

AMEN! Sometimes, I try to post one and find out it has been done already; sometimes, within 15 minutes and I just got it!

Very annoying to think you have a good deal only to find you are too late... and how do some people get the scoops so early?

My college e-mail provider is the worst. (I'm not sure who they go through.)

I have had messages take 2-3 days to finally get to my inbox after being sent. Of course their IT department can give no rational explanation for this time-lag effect.

(Naturally I do not really on that account for talking with people.)

I get a bunch of them but I'm busy sometimes and I don't post them immediately, one day bebe sent me a $15 gift card and I got a great deal with it. Magazines sent me 3 $5 gift cards but I didn't use them to buy a new subscription, instead I requested the money to be sent by check.
