April 16, 2011 is Record Store Day

submitted on April 15, 2011 by HouTex in "Sales / Promotions"
If you're a fan of vinyl records and indie music, here's a holiday you will enjoy. The first Record Store Day was in 2007, and is now held on the third Saturday of April every year at true indie record stores — not the big retailers. Find a participating store near you - http://www.recordstoreday.com/Home (info is available for US stores only)

It's a celebration of the unique culture surrounding over 700 independently owned record stores in the USA, and hundreds of similar stores internationally.

This is the one day that all of the independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music. Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day and hundreds of artists in the United States and in various countries around the world make special appearances and performances. Festivities include performances, cook-outs, body painting, meet & greets with artists, parades, DJs spinning records and more.

I have some select vinyl records that I saved. I don't know why because I don't have a turntable anymore. It sounds like it will be a fun time!

Kohl's had a turntable recently that you could record digitally. I was surprised at how inexpensive it was. I don't know if it works but with all the Kohl's deals that are posted it might be worth looking in to! Why wait until you retire? Rock On CouponNut!

Thanks for the info clover! I have all those oldie vinyl albums including all those valuable Beatles, Stones & Zepplin albums, as well as my very first 45RPM, thats why it will have to wait til I retire, work keeps me busy for the time being.
