Anyone tried "Cruises 4 Free"?

submitted on March 25, 2010 by LadySiren in "Sales / Promotions"
Okay, you know that old saying about if it seems to good to be true? I'm wondering if it applies to this promotion I found today - Cruises 4 Free (

Supposedly, Caribbean Cruise Lines offers a mostly-free 2-day cruise to the Bahamas (you pay port taxes, fuel surcharges, etc.) to "fill empty cabins". Apparently, this deal has been covered by Forbes and MSN but I can't seem to find much more information about these so-called free cruises. Also, I'm not sure whether this is still a valid offer - if you check the website, it's really unhelpful.

So: Timeshare presentation? Selling passengers off to Somali pirates? Or possibly, legit deal? I'd love to hear what y'all think, or your experiences if you've tried it.

It kind of looks like a fake site, but Forbes actually has an article on it.

    5. Recipient is responsible for actual port charges and government taxes of $59 per person at time of booking. These charges are non-refundable. The Bahamas Celebration reserves the right to charge an additional fuel supplement of up to $9.00 per person per day on all passengers, to be collected at time of embarkation without prior notice, in the event that the price of light sweet crude oil according to the NYMEX (New York Mercantile Exchange Index) is greater than $40.00 per barrel of oil.
