Hot or Not?

Anyone know if I can make a Samsung EPIC 4G work on Boost Mobile?

I plan to cancel my Spring contract and go MTM with Boost Mobile and was wondering if I can make the EPIC 4G work on it.

I don't need 4G , just the 3G bands to work. I heard that there are people who flash the phones for $$. Any reliable ones?

I agree, there are lots of "how do I" questions with not enough answers that I would consider useful. I'll also keep looking for anything better. The comments under this video include a satisfied customer who has sent their phone to this guy (who is in FL, BTW) to flash it, so clearly it can be done.

Yeah, I found some on Ebay too but just not sure how reliable these people are OR maybe if it's something I can do myself. Would like to look at all options before I make the decision to cancel my contract and move to Boost. I just wanted to get the Samsung Galaxy S2 with new customer pricing. Will inquire with Sprint if they can give me that anyways - if not - then I have to port out and port in again.

If you send it to someone, all they are going to do is put the unlock codes in or root it and run an app. You can do this yourself and save quite a bit of money. One place that has a good reputation is http://www.cellunlockbase.com/.....7AodxTzluw

You can do it with an app if your phone is rooted.

You can also do a search for unlock codes or free unlock codes for your phone.

The last guy who tried it out .....

"Hi there I just done rooted and reboot the phone but it dasn't open any more just every 3 second vabriates and the screen is black and I am pleased I NEED SOME HELP HERE ..

You do have to be careful....it is a step by step process. It helps if you are familiar with Linux, since that is what the android platform is based on.

I've been with boost a few years now and from what I know every Sprint phone can be used with Boost but most lose some features. On some phones texting won't work or sometimes even the web. I haven't tried anything myself as the only Sprint phone I have doesn't have a sim slot so I can't do anything with it. I'm pretty sure though that Boost's network is set up so that if you use a sim they make you use the iDen network which is much slower. I'm not 100% on that but you might want to find out for sure before you switch. I had a few IDen series phones are they were ridiculously slow, texts wouldn't even come through right. I've also had a few CDMA and CDMA-X phones that are much better. My husband is actually using the only Android phone that's worth a poo (Samsung Galaxy Prevail) that they sell and likes it very much. It's not as high end as alot of smartphones but works well with the network. Good luck with whatever you choose and let us know how it works out.

Thanks for the input MC. I am trying the whole effort of avoiding port out and again porting back in. Going to talk to sprint and convince them to give me new customer pricing . If not , backup plan is to add 2 lines to my existing family plan - will make it 4 lines - then port out my first 2 lines ( which are entitled to cancellation without ETF) to a prepaid carrier for a day ( till the number gets ported out ) and then turn back and port the number back to lines 3 and 4 which I just opened.

Looking for some cheap porting out options
