OK, I found out some more about it. This may be the last remaining sealed copy, produced by Bandai of Japan. Two others sold on eBay last month - one for $13,105 on 2/13/10 and another for $41,300 on 2/26/10. The NTSC (North Amercan) version is far more rare than the PAL (European) version, which is worth under $200 for a sealed copy or $15 for an open box. There were 2000 copies released for holiday sales in 1987, available only in limited stores. In 1988 Nintendo bought the rights to the associated mat technology, and recalled this game. So maybe 200 were ever sold and collectors believe that fewer than 20 complete copies of the game exist, only two of which are known to be factory sealed.

I don't think shipping it by USPS Priority Mail for $6 is adequate to insure safe delivery at this price. Mr Green Mr Green

Did anybody see what the "Buy It Now" price was? I'll bet it was a lot less that the current bid!
Also, I noticed that a lot of these higher bidders have low number of transactions.

Oh the power of Internet! The $800,200 bidding price ended up on Wikipedia same night.

I just don't see the point of paying an outrageous amount for this! To retain its value, the owner must keep it sealed. So he certainly didn't buy it to enjoy it. He apparently thinks he can eventually sell it for even more! Eeek

I just happened to look at the Stadium Events game listing again, and found that the item has been relisted! The original sale was not completed. Bidding on the new listing so far is up to $6,400 (27 bidders) and will end 3/7/10. The counter shows 3398 people have viewed the page.

The seller posted an angry update at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA.....0501811026 stating that "Im tired of these joy bidders thats not willing to pay and are playing around" and "The two highest bidders was little kids."
