Recalls started in January for at least 200,000 pieces of children's jewelry sold at Walmart stores. Walmart received notice in February that the Miley Cyrus-brand bracelets and necklaces sold exclusively at their stores nationwide contained high levels of the toxic metal cadmium, but continued selling the items for at least 3 more months, as reported by the Associated Press in May 2010 -

According to news reports, the jewelry items are not known to be dangerous if they are simply worn, and no injuries have yet been reported. Concerns come when youngsters bite or put the parts in their mouths or swallow them. Cadmium is a naturally occurring metal that, if ingested, can weaken bones and kidneys.
About 12 million "Shrek" movie-themed drinking glasses distributed by McDonald's restaurants were also recalled recently.
